amazed

first of all, i am NOT a chicago fan. the band chicago, of course, not the city. the have always had a pretty smoking horn section, but any band with a wussbag like peter cetera in the front = not for me.

i am an earth, wind and fire fan. maurice white’s lows(tragically stricken w/ parkinsons), philip bailey’s highs, verdine white a madman on the groove. these guys were awesome.

consider my mind blown. some genius put chicago and EWF together on tour. they played the today show’s concert series this morning. holy excrement!! amazing. i would highly recommend seeing this show if you are a fan of the funk. if i can get tickets, i’ll see you 7/16 at the tweeter center.

  1. Peter left the band a long time ago, didn’t he? Plus he didn’t always sing lead vocals, Bill Pankow or somebody did, a guy with a nice deep voice. Chicago 16 and 17 were great, after that, not so great. The old stuff is really good too.

I guess if you are going to tour into your 50’s it makes sense to replace the lead singer with some young guy. I hate hearing my favorite older bands once the lead voices are shot.

    Happy 4th of July!!! 🙂

  3. Speaking of shows in July, Bang Circus goes acoustic on July 23rd for a triumphant return to the Abbey Lounge on their new pub stage. Rumor has it that the pub stage is basically VIP bar seating, so I guess you could sidle up to the bar, order a drink and maybe make a request. However, there are no gurantees you’ll get either orders. God help me.

I saw the Chicago/Earth Wind & Fire performance and nearly cried they were so good.
