Blog Agog

Is it just me, or is altogether too much time on blogs spent writing about blogs? I can’t help but notice that half of the articles, links, and comments on some of my bookmarked sites are about blogging, the role of blogging, the different types of blogging, books about blogging, blogging vs. the dreaded MSM, etc. It’s fucking ridiculous. Jako? Kinshay? You feelin’ it, too?

Imagine if any of the network anchors spent half the show talking about journalism, the role of journalism in society, journalism as a profession, ad nauseum, ad infinitum, et cum spirito tuo.

I like blogs because they feature stories I might otherwise not see. I like the commentary on Powerline. Enough with the blogging about blogging already. (I don’t need anyone to point out the irony that I am currently blogging about blogging: it is to make a point and it is now over.)

  1. I guess the only problem that I have with blogs these days are the rumors being spread about my love of the manmeat. There is, however, an article on journalism in the business section of this morning’s Sunday Herald – I’m still trying to get the paper away from my father, so I haven’t read it yet.

  2. I actually put that subject for two reasons: it didn’t neatly fit into any other category, and you hadn’t commented for a while and I missed you ‘like the desert misses rain’.

  3. Joe really needs to post about his wisdom teeth/making a grown man puke story.

One of the reasons I post so much less now is that in reading all the blogs I do, everything I used to post about is covered. Read a news story, quote it and comment on it, well, everyone else does that and does it better than I do. Unless it evokes an essay, why bother?

Much better to just post about what’s going on in my life, observations, etc…

Da kine does do a great job finding local shit that wouldn’t be covered anywhere else. That’s cool too.
