Hi, My name is Sean and I’m a Potterholic…

It has been 5 days since I last finished HP and the Order of the Phoenix.

It sucks to admit at 36 that you are completely fascinated by a series of children’s books, but gosh darn it, I am.

I offer the following evidence as proof of my inability to help myself. I am addicted to Harry Potter.

1) Since Cate was born, I have read the series thus far 5 (books) 3 times.
2) I told Colleen that Hermione was not such a bad name for our new baby.
3) I constantly troll Mugglenet looking for new tidbits of HP info.
4) I think about how Emma Watson and Rupert Grint are names that would really fit in the HP universe.
5) I know that Uncle Vernon is Director of Grunnings and they make drills.
6) I’m considering growing my hair and beard to look like Hagrid.
7) I now occasionally use the phrases “codswallop”, “stupid git” and “prat”.
8) I left a HP joke comment on the blog at madpony.com.
9) I don’t mind the Earwax and Booger flavored Bertie Botts Every Flavored Beans, because they make it more “real” for me.
10) I’ve also read the “History of Quidditch” and “Magical Beasts” companion books twice, looking for clues to what happens in the last two books of the septology.
11) I’d rather not be a Muggle. I’d even rather be a Squib.
12) I like that Ron Weasley says “Wicked”, because it’s like he’s from Boston.

There’s more, God help me. But this is all I can bear to share right now. I’m going to the Scholastic web page to see if they’ve released the publication date for the next book.

  1. I also say ?stupid git? and ?prat?, as well as “burk”, although that is from reading Neil Gaiman books and watching the faux Englishfolk on Buffy/Angel.

  2. I like how you insinuate that you read these for “Cate” seeing how you started reading them before she understood a word of English. You could have read her Lord of the Rings and she would have benefitted the same. Stop hiding behind your daughter!
