Exec: I'm having problems receiving e-mail.
IT guy: It's the IMAP you are using. It's not compatible with the settings that you have in your program.
Exec: This is unacceptable. I want you to call IMAP and get this resolved immediately!
IT guy: I can't.
Exec: Why can't you do this?
IT guy: Because IMAP is out to lunch with HTTP.

I highly recommend you do this – it took Ghost Dog weeks to recover his hotmail when it got hacked
Google just added an SMS option to its account recovery system, letting anyone who forgets their passwords, or finds it suspiciously locked, set up a mobile phone number to have a recovery password sent to. U.S.-only for now, but Google says it’s working to expand the option. Want to add your phone number to an existing account? Sign into account management, then head to Change Password Recovery Options. [via Google Operating System]

Pixar Arranges Home Screening Of "Up" For Dying 10-Year-Old [Above And Beyond]

Damn, this one almost got the tears flowing
We know, that headline just oozes treacle. But it’s for real! The family friend of a dying child cold-called Pixar’s offices and guessed her way through the phone tree to a live person, then pleaded her case: the child desperately wanted to see Up, but was possibly days away from death and too sick to travel or sit in a movie theater. The next day, a Pixar employee arrived with a DVD of the movie and sat with the family while they watched it. Sometimes people can be really decent to each other.
Colby was a movie fan, [mom] Lisa Curtin said, and she latched onto Pixar’s movies because she loved animals.
[On April 30] Colby’s health began to worsen. On June 4 her mother asked a hospice company to bring a wheelchair for Colby so she could visit a theater to see “Up.” However, the weekend went by and the wheelchair was not delivered, Lisa Curtin said.
By June 9, Colby could no longer be transported to a theater and her family feared she would die without having seen the movie.
At that point, Orum, who desperately wanted Colby to get her last wish, began to cold-call Pixar and Disney to see if someone could help.
Pixar has an automated telephone answering system, Orum said, and unless she had a name of a specific person she wanted to speak to, she could not get through. Orum guessed a name and the computer system transferred her to someone who could help, she said.

Make a Quick, Spicy Sauce for Last-Minute Dinners

If you lack for foodie friends, you might not have heard all about sriracha, a pan-Asian chili sauce that’s potent but not too spicy. One blogger suggests a quick tweak that makes it more mellow and perfect for meat flavoring.
Ed Schneider writes in at Mark Bittman’s New York Times blog with this finding:
… If you add some Worcestershire sauce you get the world’s best condiment for breaded pork cutlets or other crisp, rich, greasy things. It’s kind of like tonkatsu sauce, but spicy and not as sweet.
I tried this out recently, adding a teaspoon or two to about an eighth of a cup of sriracha, and the results made for a seriously flavorful topping for a quick dinner of pork chops yanked from the freezer. Sriracha can be found in most grocery stores’ international aisles, and if you don’t have some, you owe it to yourself to pick some up.

I have no idea whether this comic actually makes sense. All I know is I could not stop laughing as I drew the last panel. That is usually a good sign?
See you Monday.
